This is part of a new series of blog posts by MailBigFile. We are more than just people behind the desk working away at MailBigFile. We love sports especially when it comes to cycling, running or swimming!

The Great Britain team at the Olympics have been hauling in the medals, so we have decided to sponsor a local triathlete called Joe Skipper as he competes in Ironman and triathlon events over the next year.

The Ironman triathlon is a race of 140.6 miles comprising a 2.4 mile (3.8 km) swim, a 112 mile (180 km) bike and a 26.2 mile (42 km) run, raced in that order and without a break. The Half Ironman 70.3 is half that distance which is 70.3 miles.

So who is Joe Skipper? He grew up in Lowestoft competing in triathlon events nationwide at age group level. He then turned his attention to cycling and became an elite cyclist and won the Eastern Region Road Race Championships. In 2010, Joe turned his attention back to triathlons, and in 2011 he was the British Middle Distance Triathlon champion and came 2nd in the British Sprint Championships. A few weeks ago he came 5th in the Pro race at Ironman UK 70.3.

Joe’s next race is on Sunday 12th August where he is competing in the Ironman 70.3 European Championships in Wiesbaden in Germany.

We love sports and so does Joe which is why we decided to help him along the way in his bid to try and break into the top 10 in the professional race, where he will be racing against triathletes such as Michael Raelert who is the 2009 and 2010 Ironman 70.3 World Champion.

Joe, go out there and do us proud!
