Despite many people assuming that Great Britain is now mainly built over, in fact a new survey has just revealed that only 6% is occupied by urban areas.

The Centre for Ecology and Hydrology has compiled a map of national habitats from digital data and satellite images which reveals that 16% of Britain is mountains, heaths and bogs; 13% is semi-natural grasslands while coniferous woodland and coniferous woodland also make up 6% each.

Just goes to show how perception and reality can be poles apart?
